SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas --- The Air Force Security Forces Center, in partnership with the Air Force Small Arms Program Office, has begun fielding the new M18 Modular Handgun System to Security Forces units as part of the Reconstitute Defender Initiative and its effort to modernize weapon systems and increase warfighter lethality.
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. --- The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) is the first unit to receive the Army's new Modular Handgun System that began fielding the M17 and M18 pistols, Nov 28.
WASHINGTON --- Come November, the XM17 handgun, also called the "Modular Handgun System," or MHS, will drop the "X," which designates it as "experimental" and will instead be called the M17.
FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Various service members will be at Fort Bragg over the next few weeks for testing of the new modular handgun system, the Sig Sauer P320, for the U.S. Army Operational Test Command based at Fort Hood, Texas.
NEW DELHI --- The Indian Army has issued a global request for information (RFI) regarding a potential procurement of some 200,000 close-quarter battle carbines in 5.56mm caliber. The order is expected to eventually grow to 500,000 in order to equip internal security forces as well.
It came right down to the wire but, as expected, one of the competitors for the Army’s $580 million program to replace the 1980s-era Beretta M9 handgun has filed a protest with the Government Accountability Office.
Sig Sauer Inc., Newington, New Hampshire, was awarded a $580,217,000 firm-fixed-price contract for the Modular Handgun System including handgun, accessories and ammunition to replace the current M9 handgun.
