As the only event purely dedicated to the area of vehicle protection, Future Armoured Vehicles Survivability aims to deliver a strong focus on the relationship between current requirements, emerging technologies and how these might be leveraged to enhance force protection.
Importantly, a key differentiator this year will be a dedicated pre-conference focus day on Active Protection System covering soft/hard kill active protection in detail. The three-day programme will cover the core areas of survivability in detail, exploring the latest platforms, vehicle architectures, passive/active protection, mobility, counter-IED, EW, un-manned/autonomous solutions, signature management and much more!

The Berlin Police have ordered a specially protected Survivor R vehicle from Rheinmetall. Tailored to meet the requirements of the Operations Directorate, this versatile vehicle is earmarked for delivery in July 2018. The order is worth a six-figure euro amount. After Saxony, Berlin is the second German region to equip its police force with the Survivor R.

On November 7 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis met with Secretary of Defence of the United States James Mattis in Helsinki, Finland. He notified Defence Secretary J. Mattis on the decision of the MoD Defence Recourse Council to contact the U.S. Government regarding the possibility of buying Light Combat Tactical All-terrain Vehicles (L-ATV) manufactured by Oshkosh Defence.

Textron Systems Marine and Land Systems, New Orleans, Louisiana, has been awarded a $332,900,000 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of up to 255 mobile strike force vehicles and related fielding hardware and field representative services for system de-processing. Bids were solicited via the Internet with one received.

RESTON, Va. --- Science Applications International Corp. announced today that it will compete to rapidly develop combat vehicle prototypes to meet the U.S. Army’s need as part of the Mobile Protected Firepower (MPF) program. SAIC, together with ST Kinetics and CMI Defence, will develop and integrate a vehicle that offers the Army an innovative solution that provides infantry forces access to combat environments in 21st century operations.

Rheinmetall will soon be modernizing part of the Bundeswehr's fleet of Leopard main battle tanks, implementing a comprehensive array of upgrade measures. The Düsseldorf-based technology group for mobility and security will be responsible for key parts of a combat performance upgrade programme that will bring 104 Leopard 2 tanks up to state-of-the-art design status.

Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCTs) constitute the Army’s “light” ground forces and are an important part of the nation’s ability to project forces overseas. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as current thinking by Army leadership as to where and how future conflicts would be fought, suggest IBCTs are limited operationally by their lack of assigned transport and reconnaissance vehicles as well as firepower against hardened targets and armored vehicles.
