UK, US and Norway continue to move forward with F-35 Air Power Projection

01/26/2018

SMi reports: SMi's Air Mission Planning and Support conference 2018, which will have a unique focus on F-35 air power capabilities. The UK, US and Norway are continuing to move forward with F-35 air power projection. The Lightning II is continuously being tested in the harshest conditions, being able to operate the F-35A in these situations enables operators to have complete superiority in the air. Together, the Norwegian and US Air Forces recently tested out the handling qualities of the F-35A with a Norwegian-made drag chute, ensuring the operational stealth capabilities of the jet in extreme conditions [f35.com].

“[The F-35] will protect British lives as we face intensifying and evolving threats at home and abroad. [It] is the most advanced and dynamic fighter aircraft in our history, and will defend this country from terrorists, collect crucial intelligence, and safeguard our national interests from those who seek to do us harm", said UK Defence Minister Gavin Williamson. Gavin Williamson visited the F-35 Lightning II simulator last week in a show of support for the 5th generation aircraft programme. He was guided through a simulated flight by two British F-35 pilots, truly experiencing the power of the stealth jet and its capabilities [gov.uk].
