This ammunition is intended for use againstarmoured targets and can defeat multi platespaced armour using the kinetic energy of itslong rod tungsten alloy penetrator. It has beenspecially designed for the MK44, MK30-2 andsimilar 30x173mm weapon systems.

This cartridge is an Armour Piercing FinStabilized Discarding Sabot with Tracer(APFSDS-T) type. It consists of a subcalibre finstabilized tungsten alloy projectile launched by means of a lightweight sabot. Penetration at anygiven range, and conversely range for any given penetration, is greatly enhanced compared toolder generation of APDS or AP projectiles.
