For use with low and high pressure 60mmmortars (M19, M224 and equivalents), forthe illumination of a specific point or area ofoperations.
The round consists of a tubular steel bombbody with a plastic obturating band, amechanical time fuze, a tail cone andaluminium tail assembly. It is loaded with theilluminating flare/parachute assembly and aBlack Powder expelling charge. The tail assembly contains the ignition cartridge and “horseshoe”type increment charges. The M712-2 has 2 increments for use in M19 type mortars. TheM712-4 has 4 increments for use in M224 type mortars.
