For use with long range and light weight(commando type) 60mm mortars (M19, M224and equivalents), to release instant whitesmoke for spotting, signalling or screeningpurposes and to produce an incendiary effectagainst material targets.

The round consists of a nodular cast ironbomb body with a plastic obturator, a nosefuze and an aluminium tail assembly. Thebomb is loaded with White Phosphorus and has a centrally oriented high explosive burster. Thetail assembly contains the ignition cartridge and the “horse-shoe” type charge increments. TheM711-2 has 2 increments for use with M19 type mortars. The M711-4 has 4 increments for usewith M224 type mortars. The M711-5 has an additional increment to obtain maximum range inthe M224 mortar.
