A-4M Lockheed Fighting Hawk Color Video HUD Camera by Photo-Sonics
The A-4M Color Video HUD Camera is an intelligent mix of Mil-Standard and commercial off-the-shelf components. Camera electronics incorporate extensive filtering to provide noise-free and exceptional image quality using aircraft power. No aircraft modifications are necessary and the unit uses existing electrical connectors and mounting provisions. The camera assembly is designed around a single unit construction and is easily installed and boresighted.
The camera assembly, consisting of a periscope and color camera, is mounted on the HUD in the cockpit so that it records what the pilot is viewing and the symbology from the HUD. The camera converts the received optical images into electrical video signals and can output the video signals to an on-board Video Cassette Recorder.
The Event Mark switch, on the left side of the camera, actuates the EM in the VCR.
