IC-5 infra-red countermeasure charge has been designed for passive jamming of infra-red homing surface-to-air missiles and for activation of IR fuzes fitted with guided missiles. In operational use, it is integrated with specially designed containers that can be mounted on both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. After ejection, combustion products (flame and hot gasses) from initiating device will activate IR charge. IR charge burns and creates radiation in given wavelength which is optimum in relation with operating mode of guided missile homing head.
