These opto-pyrotechnic devices are the result of collaboration between Lacroix and the CNES/ISL. A LASER source delivers a light pulse to an ignition compound through a SelFoc lens. DOP generates a pressure of 45 bars (more or less 8 bars) in a volume of 10cm3.

DOP detonates and drives the plug through a tube to ensure sufficient speed for a second explosive stage initiation. IOP/DOP are fitted with an optical firing connector.
