The Track Width Mine Plough (TWMP) is designed to provide vehicle self protection by clearing concealed or buried mines and IEDs by bringing them to the surface and moving them wide and clear of the vehicle.  This produces a safe and mine free track width cleared lane in front of the vehicle.

This product is battle proven and is in service with, amongst others, the British Army, the Indian Army and the Singaporean Army.

The TWMP has been designed to compactly stow on a MBT.  The approach angle has been maximised without impeding the operation of the gun even when fully depressed.

The blast resistant system comprises two 4-tine track width blades to protect vehicle tracks.  Fold out blade extensions to each side of the system ensure that mines are pushed well beyond the width of the cleared tracks.

Ploughing depth is controlled by plough skids which remain in contact with the ground at all times.  The system works well in a wide range of soil conditions and ground undulations.

The TWMP can be fitted using a common interface kit which allows the task equipment to be quickly and easily interchanged and jettisoned increasing the operational capability of the host vehicle.

Track Width Mine Plough TWMP(H)

The Track Width Mine Plough suitable for Heavy Tracked Vehicles is known as the TWMP(H) and is designed to give the vehicle the ability to rapidly force a passage through a mined obstacle by creating a cleared path for it tracks to follow.

Key Features

- Rapidly clears mines or IEDs from the track width of the host vehicle

- Designed to compactly stow on a MBT

- The approach angle has been maximised without impeding the operation of the gun even when fully depressed

- Designed to minimise the effects of detonating mines

- Designed to minimise the tractive effort required

- Capable of operating in a wide range of soil conditions

- Low maintenance

- Can be fitted with a MSD to counter magnetically fused mines

Operation and Control

- The TWMP(H) has two operating positions; stowed for cross-country travel and deployed for breaching operations. Two hydraulic lift cylinders stow and deploy the plough blades. Hydraulic power is provided by an in-built electrohydraulic power system if the TWMP(H) is fitted directly to the vehicle. If the TWMP(H) is fitted using a Pearson Engineering common interface kit (HLA), an on-board hydraulic system is supplied. The TWMP(H) is controlled from a Multipurpose Control Unit (MCU) mounted within easy reach of the vehicle driver.

Modular

- The TWMP(H) can be rapidly attached to, or detached from, the vehicle and interchanged with other Special to Role equipment by the vehicle crew.

- An optional Hard Surface Device (HSD) can be fitted to the TWMP(H) to clear mines and munitions laid on the surface of roads and hard flat terrain.

- An optional Magnetic System Duplicator (MSD) can be fitted to help protect the equipment from the effect of magnetic influence fused mines.

- A purpose built Transportation Pallet facilitates both storage and transport and is capable of fitting into either an ISO container or onto a DROPS pallet.

Track Width Mine Plough TWMP(M)

The Track Width Mine Plough suitable for Medium Tracked Vehicles is known as the TWMP(M) and is a self-protection system which produces a cleared lane over the vehicle track width.

Key Features

- Clears mines from the track width of the vehicle

- Designed to operate in a wide range of soils

- Designed to minimise the tractive effort required

- Designed to minimise the effects of detonating mines

- May be jettisoned from under armour should the need arise

- Requires minimal maintenance

- Can be used in conjunction with Magnetic Signature Duplicator (MSD) systems to counter magnetic influence fused mines.

Operation and Control

- The TWMP(M) is operated using a simple Control Box mounted within easy reach of the driver.

- The main operating features are as below:

a) switches are provided for CONTROL, POWER/OFF and BATTLE/OFF functions.

b) a joystick gives blade UP and blade DOWN control

c) a PLOUGH READY lamp indicates that the blades are in their working position.

d) a PLOUGH SELECT switch can be used to select the right hand blade, the left hand blade or both.

Modular

- The TWMP(M) has been designed to compactly stow on a Main Battle Tank.  The approach angle has been maximised without impeding operation of the gun; even when fully depressed.  This is to be confirmed when accurate vehicle data is available.

- A purpose-built Transportation & Installation Pallet allows the TMWP(M) to be quickly fitted and removed from the vehicle without recourse to external lifting equipment such as a crane by using an on-board lifting device.

- The TWMP(M) may be interchanged with other equipment such as the Pearson Engineering Combat Dozer Blade (M) to provide a powerful dozing capability when required.
